CD-Wow poor customer service

I’m dis-impressed with CD wow after an experience today. I ordered a DVD over three months ago, The payment went through (back in MAY) and today i got an e-mail saying they didn’t have it in stock and couldn’t supply it. Fair enough, i can deal with that. However when buying from their store today i searched for the DVD in question. Yes they do have it in stock, however the price has gone up six euro’s and it has changed from reigon specific to reigon free – that wouldn’t affect customers so not an issue its still the SAME PRODUCT.

So did CD-Wow risk loosing a regular customer by computer error or to try to earn an extra few quid??? Is this type of online retailing error acceptable in this day and age?

If it was my customer – I’d install a failsafe to ensure that a product wasn’t instock before turning down business. Then if i did have to, i’d have have considered offering a token gift, say 5 – 10% off your next purchase as an apology of taking your money for three months with no succesful outcome. Doing this would cement customer retention and materialise the apology. Although i’d still use CDwow, and i usually compare between CDwow and Play for prices (these are the only 2 stores i buy DVD’s from), if the prices are the same i’ll now go with Play -as they’ve never let me down.
